AWS Migration · the AWS practice at ASAL Technologies

Migrate to AWS, structured to be funded.

We plan and execute your move to AWS — rehost, replatform or refactor — and we structure eligible migrations to qualify for AWS funding programs like the Migration Acceleration Program. Backed by ASAL Technologies: 25+ years and 450+ engineers.

Three ways to move

Pick the migration path that fits the workload

Not every workload should move the same way. We map each one onto the right path along an effort-to-value axis — from the fastest lift-and-shift to a full cloud-native rebuild.

Lower effort Higher cloud value
Rehost

Lift & shift

Move servers to AWS largely as-is — same OS, same app — using AWS Application Migration Service. The fastest route off the datacenter.

Effort
Speed
When to useA datacenter exit or contract deadline, stable apps you don't want to touch, or as a first step before optimizing later.
Replatform

Lift & optimize

Move and make a few high-value tweaks — swap a self-managed database for Amazon RDS/Aurora, containerize, or adopt managed services without rewriting code.

Effort
Speed
When to useYou want managed-service wins — patching, backups, scaling handled by AWS — without committing to a full rewrite.
Refactor

Modernize

Re-architect for the cloud — break a monolith into microservices, go serverless with Lambda, or move to event-driven and container-native designs.

Effort
Speed
When to useThe app is strategic, scaling hard, or expensive to run as-is — and the long-term cloud value justifies the investment.
The plan

Assess → Mobilize → Migrate → Operate

Every migration follows AWS's proven four-phase model. We run each phase with rehearsals, rollback plans and a working result at the end — not a slide deck.

1
Phase 01

Assess

We discover your estate and judge readiness — and check which AWS funding it qualifies for.

  • Application & dependency discovery
  • Migration readiness & cost model
  • Path per workload (rehost / replatform / refactor)
  • MAP eligibility first-read
2
Phase 02

Mobilize

We build the foundation and prove the approach before moving production.

  • Secure landing zone & networking
  • Migration tooling & runbooks
  • Pilot wave to de-risk the plan
  • Skills & operating model set up
3
Phase 03

Migrate

We move workloads in waves, with rehearsals and a clear rollback at every step.

  • Wave-based cutovers
  • Data replication & validation
  • Cutover rehearsals + rollback plans
  • Decommission source as we go
4
Phase 04

Operate

You're live — and we keep it healthy, optimized and well-architected.

  • Monitoring & managed operations
  • FinOps cost guardrails
  • Well-Architected check-ins
  • Optimization backlog
How AWS funds your migration

The Migration Acceleration Program (MAP)

MAP is AWS's flagship migration funding. It runs in three stages — Assess, Mobilize and Migrate — each unlocking more support, with migration credits worth a share of your first-year AWS spend. We structure eligible migrations to qualify, and can co-deliver the work.

Assess Stage 1 Mobilize Stage 2 Migrate Stage 3 FUNDING UNLOCKED →
1

Assess Funded analysis

AWS supports a directional business case — migration readiness, total-cost-of-ownership and a migration plan — at low or no cost to you.

2

Mobilize Build & pilot

AWS funds foundation-building and a pilot — landing zone, tooling, runbooks and a de-risking wave — before production moves.

3

Migrate Spend-based credits

As workloads land on AWS, MAP provides migration credits worth a share of your first-year AWS spend on migrated workloads.

MAP full delivery is a Year-2 capability for ASAL Cloud. Today we structure migrations to qualify for MAP funding and can co-deliver. Stage amounts, eligibility and credit values are set by AWS — not by ASAL — and are never guaranteed; we assess what your project qualifies for during your free assessment.
Workload scope

The workloads we move to AWS

Our focus is the Microsoft-and-database-heavy estates common across MENA — modernized off costly licensing and onto AWS-managed services.

Databases

Move off costly licensing onto AWS-managed engines.

SQL Server → Aurora

.NET apps

Port .NET workloads off Windows licensing.

.NET → Linux

Windows & AD

Rehost Windows Server estates and integrate Active Directory with AWS Directory Service.

Microsoft / Azure exits

Migrate estates off Azure and Microsoft licensing onto AWS-native, lower-cost equivalents.

Oracle modernization Roadmap

Oracle database modernization onto AWS is on our delivery roadmap.

VMware modernization Roadmap

Modernizing VMware estates onto AWS is on our delivery roadmap.

Don't see your stack? Our parent, ASAL Technologies, has engineered software since 2000 across a wide range of platforms — bring us the workload and we'll scope it honestly in your free assessment.
